Clash of Clans Defense Strategy defending describe that heroes can ruin your attack if not dealt with properly, especially if their high level Heroes. They deal a lot of damage and have a significant amount of hitpoints. Nothing is more frustrating than seeing a successful attack getting blasted by a defending Hero. In this guide, I want to show you several different setups of defending Heroes and how to deal with them.

Defending Heroes

You will face 3 defending Heroes. Let’s take a look at each one and see how they will affect your attack.

Defending Barbarian King

The Barbarian King is not a big deal, but he can crush your attack clean up if he gets to your Archer Queen. His biggest threat for your attack is if your troops, depending on composition, need a lot of time to get him killed. This time is critical because the defenses are killing your troops and dropping your tank’s hitpoints or even allowing Spells to run out.

Defending Archer Queen

The Archer Queen is the biggest threat to tanking troops because she will shoot over Walls and may not be reachable. Also, Balloons suffer a great deal because they won’t specifically target her while she shoots them out of the sky.

Defending Grand Warden

The Grand Warden’s  damage in defense mode won’t really harm your attack – but he adds a lot of extra hitpoints to the defenses and structures within his range and also has a ranged attack.

About Hero Levels

The Hero Levels are very important, of course! Maxed Heroes will be harder to kill. Clash of Clans Defense Strategy defending heroes below Level 20 won’t harm your attack that much – I personally ignore them for the most part.

Dealing With Defending Heroes

Now I would like to show some different examples of Hero locations in bases and, of course, how to deal with them.

Defending Core Heroes

If the Heroes are in core, they are the toughest and this setup you can do little about.

You should plan to hit the core with your biggest force to drive down the Heroes. Save yourself a Rage Spell to get them down as quickly as possible.

A rare situation can happen where the defending Heroes are still up and the Town Hall is still standing. You want to use your Heroes, especially the Archer Queen to go for the Town Hall. You will more than likely see a problem that she/they might get distracted by the defending hero, turning attention to them first, and losing their initial target, the Town Hall.

Some of these attacks fail, but you can easily counter by using the Heroes ability BEFORE your Hero gets hit by the defending Hero.

Semi-Centered Defending Heroes

In a lot of bases, the Heroes aren’t located directly in the core next to the Town Hall, they are in the second layer.

In this situation, you can choose to avoid one of them – most likely the Archer Queen – by attacking from the other side. This depends absolutely on your attacking composition and if you will go after 2 Stars or 3 Stars.

If you choose to avoid one of the defending Heroes you need to attack from the opposite side of the base. This is a good technique when attacking with a composition that doesn’t hit the Hero directly – LavaLoon versus Archer Queen, just to name an example.

Dealing with 1:1 Situation

Queen Walk is a situation where you will be one on one against a defending Hero, but not the only situation. Maybe you use suicide Dragons to take the Archer Queen out when she is located in the outside layer.

You should use a Poison Spell on the defending Hero in this situation. It will not take him/her down much faster, but will decrease their attacking speed allowing you to take less damage from them.

Conclusion

There are thousands of possibilities because there are thousands of different base designs and attacking compositions. This overview is only meant to give you advice on how to spot certain situations and take care of the defending Heroes more efficiently.
