For new Strategy and details of tips and tricks regarding clash of clans are available here, in this article we will tell you about “How to Get 3 Star with LavaLoon / LaLoon – Clash of Clans Strategy” and why it is very important for your in clan war. You can use this Clash of Clans Strategy and attack on your opponent and win with lots of trophies and loot.
LavaLoon is an excellent attacking strategy utilizing Lava Hounds and Balloons. I personally have become a big fan of air troops and this attacking composition works great for Clan War and regular attacking. It is best for Town Hall 9 and Town Hall 10, but you can also attack Town Hall 11 bases.
How LavaLoon / LaLoon Strategy Works
The basic strategy behind LavaLoon is to take down as many Air Defenses as possible, then send in your Lava Hounds to tank away damage and distract defenses with Lava Pups. Shortly after, sending in Balloons to take down defenses while the Lava Hounds do their job and then finally your clean up troops to take down what’s left. In detail it’s a little more complicated. This is what I will show you in this guide!
Which Town Halls Levels does LavaLoon work?
Town Hall 9 & Town Hall 10 (and Town Hall 11, because many only focus on GoWiWi)
Main Purpose Of This Attacking Strategy
Clan War, Trophy Pushing and also Farming for Town Hall 11
Pros of LavaLoon:
+ Quite Easy To Use, not many steps
+ No complicated scouting for Traps and pathing required
Cons of LavaLoon:
– Requires high level Spells & Lava Hound and max level Balloons
– Sometimes requires higher level Heroes (for solid Town Hall 10 and Town Hall 11)
Troop Variations for LaLoon / LavaLoon
There are different variations, but only small differences. The attack strategy itself is always the same, but some prefer to use Minions, others bring only Balloons. These variations are personal preference and trial and error.
In general, I always recommend bringing 4 Lava Hounds. If you’re Town Hall 9 and level 2 Lava Hounds, you can also try with 3 Lava Hounds.
LavaLoon Strategy Step by Step
Now let’s take a look at the different steps that this attack requires. The most crucial part of this strategy is not the timing of deployment, but where you decide to start your attack. LavaLoon attacking consists of these 4-5 steps:
- Choose the correct side to start attack
- (Solid Town Hall 10 / Town Hall 11 only: Do a Queen Walk to take down an Air Defense)
- Send in your LavaHounds
- Send in the Balloons (and Minions if you brought some) and use your Rage/Freeze Spells
- Clean Up
Let’s have a closer look at these steps.
Step 1: Choosing the correct side to attack from with LavaLoon / LaLoon
There are a few variables to consider when deciding where to start you attack:
- Where are the Air Defenses and what level?
- Where are the Air Sweepers placed & what Direction are the covering?
- (Town Hall 10 and Town Hall 11) Where are the Inferno Towers?
If the Air Defenses are all inside the core, you’ll have a hard time. Lava Hounds will go directly to Air Defenses and leaving outside defenses to take out your Balloons. This will not work because you need to distract the defenses with your Lava Hounds to give the Balloons opportunity to take down defenses from the outside in.
Always attack in a straight line – you should avoid attacking from a corner because your Balloons will group together and get killed easier.
Also, take a close look where the Air Sweepers are pointed. They can really slow down your Balloons and Lava Hounds. This to gives defenses the chance to target Balloons instead of the Lava Hounds or can prevent the Balloons from dealing damage on defenses. Try not to attack directly INTO the direction of an Air Sweeper when possible. Come from behind or from the side.
Regarding Inferno Towers, you can directly attack a base with Single-Target Inferno Towers. This mode is an invitation to crush the base:
Step 2: Only for solid Town Hall 10 & Town Hall 11 – Queen Walk For Air Defense(s)
If you’re attacking a well-upgraded base, most of the time you will see an Air Defense you can take down with a Queen Walk. Read this guide to help with your Queen Walk:
Step 3: Send in the Lava Hounds
You’ll deploy 4 Lava Hounds in total and release 2 per Air Defense. Remember when I told you in step 1 that you will attack in a straight line? Good.
Do not deploy them from the same spot – you want them to cover a larger area and trigger all air traps before your Balloons are released. This should look somewhat like this:
Step 4: Deploy The Balloons, Minions if you brought some, and use your Spells!
Immediately after you release the Lava Hounds, you should deploy a line of Balloons:
Don’t deploy them too close together.
Please Note: If you brought Minions as well, you can directly deploy them behind the Balloons. Don’t worry because the Lava Hounds already triggered all air traps and the Balloons go for the defenses, so they won’t get hurt.
Spell Deployment for LavaLoon / LaLoon
You have 3 different Spells you need to use, and once all units are deployed on the battlefield, you can drop them without any stress.
The Poison Spell obviously should get dropped on defending Clan Castle Troops or Air Skeleton Traps going after your troops.
The first 2 Rage Spells should be placed in the area your Balloons will strike first:
If you have space and brought a 3rd Rage Spell, watch the attack and if there’s a bigger group of Balloons left support them with this last Rage Spell.
The Freeze Spells are used against Multi-Target Inferno Towers, Air Sweepers or maybe groups of Hidden Teslas. This really varies and you will see which defenses give your troops a hard time.
Always go for the Multi-Target Inferno Tower first. To increase effectiveness of your Freeze Spells try to freeze multiple targets at once:
Step 5 Cleaning Up
Also, use your Heroes. Town Hall 10+, you’ll probably need them to go after the Town Hall (if you haven’t used them to take down an Air Defense in the beginning).
LaLoon / LavaLoon For Town Hall 9
Using this attacking strategy in Town Hall 9 is very overpowered. There are no Multi-Target Inferno Towers and you don’t have to pay much attention using Freeze Spell. Here’s a great video showing some Town Hall 9 LavaLoon attacks:
LaLoon / LavaLoon For Town Hall 10
Town Hall 10 gets more tricky, but most Clashers focus on ground attacks, so you’ll be able to find plenty of bases you can 2 Star. You have to pay close attention to the Inferno Towers – if you manage that you’ll be able to crush bases in no-time:
Also, a great strategy is using ZapQuake:
LaLoon / LavaLoon For Town Hall 11
Except for the Grand Warden, you have almost nothing to fear. The Eagle Artillery is not a big threat because you have so many groups of troops. Sorry for the curse words in this video, the content is still great:
LavaLoon was a major player in 2015 and it isn’t dead yet. If you like air attacks, you’re still able to crush bases. I personally like air attacks and this strategy is very simple. No need for multiple attacking stages, kill squad, etc. You simply choose the correct side to start your attack, deploy your troops, deploy your Spells and push to >50% destruction.
