May 2016 Clash of Clans Update Sneak Peek #6 – New Troop! The Miner

As you know that new Clash of Clans Update is on the way in this month, here are some of its highlights. Now Supercell is kicking it up a notch and speeding up the Sneak Peeks as they just released another Sneak Peek with another new troop for the May 2016 Clash of Clans Update. It’s, like expected, the Miner (we all know from Clash Royale).

Only 6 hours ago they announced the first new troop for the May 2016 Update, the Baby Dragon:

New Troop The Miner

It’s crazy to have 2 new troops announced in Clash of Clans Update within one day for one single update, but let’s check out what the Miner does. Here he is:

Clash of Clans Update

If you play Clash Royale you know what the Miner does – sneaking behind enemy lines and taking out structures with a decent amount of hitpoints.

In Clash of Clans you will not be able to deploy the Miner behind enemy lines (inside the “red area”), but he will move forward underground and can’t take any damage or trigger any traps while underground:

Let’s look at the stats and details first. You will be able to use the Miner if you’re Town Hall 10 or above and he will take up 5 housing space.

With the update it will be possible to upgrade the Miner to Level 4 (stats unknown so far).

Here are the unofficial stats for the Miner from a leak:

They seem to be very legit, but I can’t tell for sure that these are the final stats (also because they are from a developer built so they could be changed in the release).

From what I’ve seen in the Sneak Peek video material these stats could be right. The hitpoints are enough to take some damage, like accidental splash damage, but not high enough to run over a base with mass Miner attacking.

Use Case For The Miner

The Miner will always target the nearest structure and then go underground until he reaches it. When this particular building is destroyed, he will go underground again and move to the next one.

This makes him a perfect clean-up troop, especially with the comeback of Balloon and Lava Hound attacks. He will also be able to go under walls, so maybe combining him with Valks or Hogs or others is possible.

Together with the Baby Dragon we will see so many new attacking strategies that it boggles my mind. Clash of Clans will not be a game with only 10 or so good attacking strategies anymore, these changes will add many more strong options.
