You can use this Clash of Clans Strategy and attack on your opponent and win with lots of trophies and loot.
A Clan War victory is always the product of your own abilities and Clash of Clans Strategy to know your enemy. When we talk about scouting, we often talk about checking out an enemy base to make our attacking plan. In this post, I don’t want to specifically talk about scouting an enemy base for Traps or other base related weaknesses – I want to show some techniques for Clan War Scouting the enemy himself.
How to Scouting Clans in Clan War?
Let’s begin from the north to the south. First of all make yourself a picture what Clan you’re facing. In general I have these 5 categories I use:
- Hard War Clan with discipline, knowledge and strong organization (the one you don’t want to face)
- Solid Clan doing a Clan War twice a week but more just for fun
- Clan with a wide range of player (Town Hall 6 to Town Hall 10) trying to win but failing against solid Clans
- Mostly social Clan doing Clan War just for fun
- “Why do they even call themselves a Clan”-Clan
Now the first step you need to do is placing your Clan where it belongs. Luckily you don’t have to guess because there are several indications that will make it pretty obvious what kind of Clan you’re dealing with. When you strip it down you just need to answer the question about their success rate, skill/experience and social behavior.
The success rate is something you can pretty easily get to know – just look at their profile by checking the number of Clan War Victories. I know that older Clans will have a higher number and new successful Clans could have less but when taking Clans with 35 or more members it is very likely they exist longer than just a couple of weeks.
My experience tells me that Clans with less than 50 Victories are rather Category 3 to 5. You can also check in their profile how many Clan Wars they are doing (2 times a week etc.). This will give you a first impression about their success rate.
To get an idea about their skills and knowledge you have to scout the Top 20 War Bases and also have the best Clash of Clans Strategy. Now look for indications like most of them having centralized Clan Castles, (semi-)outside Heroes and no corner Buildings. The overall impression that they have solid layouts will tell you a lot and you can easily tell if bases can get attacked easily or they will be quite difficult to destroy. In the next step you take a look at the player themselves by taking a look at the Player Profiles of the Top 10.
Check out what Troop and Spell Levels they have and compare their Achievements with their base. I’m not telling that player using Gems are bad players, but if most of the Top 10 haven’t got a Gold Grab similar to their upgrade progress and they have only a few Victories you can assume that they have not played that hard to be considered very experienced. Again, I’m NOT saying that player using Gems are not as good as player not using them but if the Top of a Clan has a very high ratio of player that have used Gems a lot the Clan might have some lack experience in general because they aren’t online that much for supporting the lower player.
Also check out how many Stars someone has scored so far to know how many Clan Wars he has fought in – we’re talking about experience, not skill, but you’ll get your impression. I also like to make a Clash of Clans Strategy to check what those player have in their Army Camps. If there are BARCH or no Troops in there and they start training when the Battle Day starts you can more to Category 3.
The social structure of a Clan is also important for you – I will come back at this in a few sentences – and first of all have a look how fast are the War Castles filled with donated Troops short after the Matchmaking has ended. If they get filled in no time you can assume the Clan is prepared and did make an internal plan on who is donating what before they started the Matchmaking. Another thing I check is the donation ratio of the Top 10 player of the Clan – if they are very positive and also quite high you have a very active and also social Clan in front of you.
Is the Clan a Modding/Cheating Clan?!
Clan War Scout at a Glance
If you do this a couple of times you’ll get the Checklist in your mind – for the first times I have it here for you:
- Check Clan Profile for Victories and War Frequency
- Check Top 20 War Bases for layout (Central Clan Castle etc. – are there some weird base designs?)
- Check Top 10 Player Profiles for Troops, Achievements and Donations
Why is it that important to know how the Clan works instead of just knowing the bases you’re going to attack?
So you might want to ask why you should know what kind of Clan you’re facing in this Clan War. When me and my Clan are facing a Clan we think is going to War more for fun than serious we are trying to do a head start as hard as we can. Those Clans – and also Clan less social – are getting unmotivated very quick and if they look at the score after 1 or 2 hours and are behind very much some player tend to not attack at all because they don’t want to waste expensive Troops.
If your opponent Clan looks quite solid and good organized you need to put some extra into your own organization. Help the lower player scouting and with their Troop Composition, donate the best Troops you can for the War Base Clan Castles and during Battle Day and make an exact plan who should attack who to get a fair chance of getting the Victory. I know this all help not that much if you’re facing a very strong Clan you probably won’t beat because the Matchmaking hasn’t been on your side. But honestly, what do you think you can do if your opponent is simply too strong – fight as hard as you can and don’t surrender.
Clan War Scouting Opponent in Clan War
I will not tell you how you can scout the right base for you – you know your Troop setup and what bases you will win against and what are almost impossible to take down. When you scout you should always find the perfect balance in between winning the most possible Stars and also not wasting them. How you can waste Stars? Imagine all Top 10 Player will just attack the mid-range Town Halls. They will get 3 Stars in all attacks but then the mid range player are forced to either attack the low end or the top – the low end will waste the attacks of your bottom player and in the top they will not score that much.
The best opponent you can choose is the one you can marginal win against with 3 Stars!Remember that. Before attacking always check if there is a higher opponent you can also get 3 Stars from to give other player with lower experience and Troops their fair chance of getting also 3 Stars.
Another common thing I still see from time to time is that people are using their second attack on higher bases because they “have nothing to lose”. Often I ask them why they haven’t attacked a lower base that has been scored with only 2 Stars and they reply that they could get more than 1 Star on the higher base theoretical so they can only win.
